Working Principle

Field Control Unit (FCU) transmits multi-channel valve target opening digital commands to AFV30D-S41252 module via ESB backplane bus. Four independent onboard DAC chips convert digital control values into isolated 4–20 mA analog drive signals, each channel equipped with dedicated isolation and intrinsic safety limiting circuits to suppress overcurrent and voltage spikes on hazardous field loops. Output analog signals drive field smart valve positioners and electric regulating actuators; superimposed HART digital signals are demodulated by internal communication circuits to upload actuator diagnostic data back to DCS workstation. Built-in per-channel current sampling circuits continuously monitor loop operating status, and transmit fault alarm signals to FCU once abnormal circuit conditions are detected.

Advantage Highlights

  1. 4-channel high-density integration reduces total rack slot consumption for large-scale multi-regulating-valve process control systems
  2. S41252 upgraded 1000 Ω maximum loop load resistance supports ultra-long-distance field wiring without signal attenuation
  3. Enhanced intrinsic safety circuit allows deployment in higher-risk Zone 0 explosive hazardous process areas
  4. Independent channel isolation ensures single channel short-circuit or open-circuit fault does not affect other three output channels
  5. Full HART per-channel support realizes simultaneous remote parameter configuration and diagnostic reading of four smart field actuators
  6. Perfect software and mechanical compatibility with existing Centum VP DCS and SIS safety interlock platforms

Applicable Industries

Large-scale integrated petrochemical refinery process control, coal chemical hazardous area flow regulation, natural gas liquefaction plant valve control, fine chemical explosion-proof batch production lines, fertilizer plant high-risk reaction loop automatic adjustment

Product Series

Yokogawa AFV Actuator Analog Output Module Series (AFV10D single channel positioner drive module, AFV30D multi-channel high-load intrinsic safety output module)

Installation Requirements

  1. Install horizontally inside standard Yokogawa Centum VP FCU ESB backplane rack slot and lock front buckle completely
  2. All field wiring for Zone 0/1 hazardous areas must adopt intrinsically safety certified shielded twisted pair cables
  3. Calculate total loop resistance of field cable + valve positioner to guarantee value below 1000 Ω maximum load limit
  4. Maintain minimum 10 mm horizontal and vertical air gap between adjacent rack modules for natural heat dissipation
  5. Perform channel output calibration via DCS workstation after completing all field wiring connection work

Use & Maintenance Precautions

  1. Strictly prohibit field loop total resistance exceeding rated 1000 Ω limit, which causes incomplete valve stroke movement
  2. Fully cut off FCU rack main power supply before plugging/unplugging module to prevent ESB bus communication chip permanent damage
  3. Intrinsic safety wiring layout must comply with IEC 61241 standard; non-IS electrical equipment cannot share same wiring trunking
  4. Do not install module adjacent to high-power frequency converters, welding equipment or large contactors without electromagnetic shielding partitions
  5. Tighten all terminal block spring screws during quarterly cabinet maintenance to eliminate loose wiring induced signal deviation
  6. If HART communication signal loss occurs on single channel, inspect field cable shielding integrity and terminal contact tightness first before module replacement
