ProSoft MVI56E-MNETXT

Product Introduction: The MVI56E-MNETXT is a single-slot 1756 backplane co-processor built for Rockwell ControlLogix platforms operating in corrosive, wide-temperature or high-altitude sites. It delivers the same Modbus TCP/IP client/server engine as the standard MVI56E-MNET but adds industrial-grade PCB conformal coating and a -25 °C to +70 °C operating envelope, qualifying it for Logix-XT installations such as desert solar pumping, offshore topside panels, arctic pipeline RTU shelters and steel-mill drive rooms. The module runs an independent embedded processor and never consumes ControlLogix scan time for socket handling.

Functional Features: Asynchronous Modbus polling decoupled from PLC scan; backwards compatible with MVI56-MNET ladder files; CIPconnect remote firmware/diagnostic access across EtherNet/IP or ControlNet; web-less 4-char LED reports IP, firmware, port state and error codes; CF-card disaster recovery swaps in under one minute; coating resists salt mist, H2S, humidity and condensation.
Application Scenarios: Outdoor pump stations, offshore wellhead SCADA, mining conveyor drives, thermal power FGD skids, any ControlLogix site lacking climate-controlled enclosure.
Structure & Material: Standard 1756 aluminum faceplate with RJ45 cutout; FR4 PCB with polyurethane/acrylic conformal layer; gold-finger VME-style backplane edge; industrial CF socket behind faceplate; no internal fan.
Working Principle: ControlLogix maps an integer data block to the module via backplane I/O image. The module’s onboard CPU executes Modbus TCP transactions on Ethernet independently, writes results into its 5000-register RAM and mirrors that RAM to the PLC tag space through the AOI every scheduled cycle.
Installation Requirements: Rack power off before insert; allocate 800 mA on 5 V bus budget; separate signal ground from shield ground at panel; use Cat5e shielded cable in noisy cells; do not install in Slot 0; bind temporary IP with PDS before permanent network address.
Usage Notes: Coating does not make module waterproof—IP20 still applies; never scrape conformal layer; CF card holds node identity—keep spare preloaded; firmware mismatch with AOI causes APP LED red; at 70 °C ambient expect no derating but avoid adjacent heat sources exceeding 80 °C.
