8. Working Principle

After the gateway completes 24VDC power-on initialization and pre-set parameter loading from internal flash memory, the EtherNet/IP port establishes data link with upper Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix EtherNet/IP controller, receiving cyclic I/O explicit message data issued by upper master controller and storing original data into gateway internal shared database. The onboard core MCU extracts corresponding mapped data from shared database, completes format conversion and encapsulation into standard PROFIBUS DP-V0 telegram, then transmits processed data to field PROFIBUS DP master station via DB9 DP port following DP bus physical layer electrical specification. For reverse uplink data from PROFIBUS master station, the gateway decodes DP telegram into original digital data, remaps data address per preconfigured rules and packages into standard EtherNet/IP data frame before uploading to upper EtherNet/IP host controller. All abnormal link signals from either side of dual bus are captured by onboard fault detection circuit and written into dedicated status register for upper system diagnostic reading.

12. Installation Requirements

  1. Select standard indoor IP54 above electrical cabinet internal installation position, reserve minimum 50 mm upper and lower ventilation clearance space around module body for natural heat dissipation, forbid closed fully enclosed mounting without air circulation space.
  2. Lock the rear DIN rail buckle onto standard 35 mm top-hat DIN rail firmly after module positioning, confirm no loose shaking of the whole module body under external slight vibration.
  3. Connect 24VDC power cable to dedicated power terminal following positive/negative polarity definition, apply rated tightening torque 0.6 N·m on terminal fixing screws to prevent power line loose contact caused by equipment long-term vibration.
  4. Insert standard CAT5e/CAT6 shielded Ethernet cable into front RJ45 port, connect PROFIBUS standard shielded DP bus cable into DB9 female port; install terminal matching 120Ω termination resistor at the physical two endpoints of full PROFIBUS bus trunk line strictly following DP bus wiring specification.
  5. Complete all wiring operation under full power-off state of gateway and peripheral related control equipment; install ProSoft Configuration Builder matching version configuration software on Windows platform PC and connect PC with gateway RS232 configuration port via null-modem cable for parameter downloading and configuration validation.

13. Usage Precautions

  1. Strictly prohibit live plugging/unplugging of RJ45 Ethernet cable and DB9 PROFIBUS bus cable during gateway powered running status to avoid instantaneous surge current damaging internal isolation circuit and core MCU chip.
  2. Prevent conductive metal dust, cutting fluid and corrosive chemical liquid splashing onto module front panel and wiring terminal area; cut off input power supply immediately once liquid infiltration occurs and execute full drying maintenance before repowering test.
  3. Do not connect non-standard non-shielded ordinary network cable and unqualified PROFIBUS bus cable to communication ports, substandard wiring causes abnormal communication fluctuation and periodic data loss fault.
  4. Conduct quarterly routine maintenance inspection: check terminal wiring tightness, LED indicator operating state, internal communication error register data and cabinet internal dust accumulation, record all inspection content into equipment maintenance log.
  5. Store spare module inside original anti-static sealed packaging box under 15 ℃ ~ 25 ℃ dry indoor environment, forbid long-term outdoor stacking under direct sunlight, high temperature or damp rain immersion environment.
  6. Complete firmware upgrade operation only during equipment scheduled downtime maintenance period, forbid online firmware update under production continuous running state to avoid temporary system communication interruption risk.
