Working Principle

Backplane 24 V DC power supplies the RISC processor core and bus communication circuits. The processor cyclically executes user programmed control logic downloaded from engineering stations, reads real-time analog and digital process variables via FIO bus connected remote I/O modules, calculates PID output values and interlock trigger signals, then transmits control output commands back to field I/O modules. V-Net bus synchronizes real-time process data, alarm information and operator setpoint commands between CP345 and all system operator/engineering stations. In redundant configuration, standby CP345 continuously mirrors all running parameters and logic states of the primary module; upon primary module failure, instantaneous bumpless switchover transfers full control task to standby unit.
