Working Principle

The IOTA routes analog output signals from the plug-in I/O module to field actuators through terminal blocks. The I/O module receives digital commands from the C300 controller, converts them to 4-20 mA analog signals, and delivers them through the IOTA terminals to field devices. HART communication signals are superimposed on the analog output for smart device configuration and diagnostics.

Installation Requirements

  • Install vertically in Series C control cabinet I/O chassis
  • Plug corresponding analog output IOM into the rear connector of the IOTA
  • Connect field actuator wiring to front terminal blocks; observe correct polarity
  • Ensure load resistance per channel does not exceed the maximum rating
  • Ground the chassis and cable shields properly to minimize interference

Usage Precautions

  • Do not connect capacitive or inductive loads without appropriate surge suppression
  • Verify loop resistance before commissioning to ensure output compliance
  • Follow electrostatic discharge handling procedures when installing modules
