Working Principle:
Executes certified safety logic (FBD or ladder within SIS function blocks). Reads inputs directly from associated SIS I/O termination blocks, solves logic, drives outputs. Redundant solvers run in parallel — both solve; one communicates to workstation/network, the other is standby but fully active. On failure, outputs remain driven by healthy solver.
Installation & Notes:
Requires dedicated 24 VDC safety power supply, isolated from BPCS power. Install in redundant pairs for SIL 3 capability. Must be configured in DeltaV SIS workstation — not interchangeable with standard DeltaV controllers.
Applications:​ Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems, Burner Management Systems (BMS), High Integrity Pressure Protection (HIPPS), fire & gas logic in oil/gas/refining/petrochemical plants.
