Functional Highlights
– Independent alarm-drive logic – every relay can be programmed with AND/OR combinations of any monitor channel alarm (Warning / Danger / OK) or real-time value
– Three output styles – bus relay, dedicated relay or independent relay to match different voting philosophies
– Fail-safe capability – normally-energised or normally-de-energised contact state selectable; supports latching and non-latching modes
– Hot-swap maintenance – card can be inserted or removed under power without disturbing rack operation or protection
– On-board diagnostics – front LEDs on the parent 3500/32 module give instant visual feedback; detailed relay health, cycle count and contact wear data are reported over the rack Ethernet link
– Sealed contacts – epoxy block protects against dust, moisture and corrosive atmospheres (Class G3)
– Firmware flash – field-upgradeable through 3500 Rack Configuration Software in <3 min; rollback image stored for safety
– TMR ready – certified for use in Triple Modular Redundant racks where 2-out-of-3 voting is required
Application Scenarios
– Steam & gas turbine TSI cabinets – energise emergency stop solenoids, lift trip oil or annunciate overspeed alarms
– Offshore platform centrifugal compressors – drive fire & gas deluge valves, start standby pumps or send shutdown signals to DCS
– LNG refrigeration trains – isolate motor feeders on high vibration or differential expansion alarms
– Ethylene hyper-compressors – combine radial-vibration and temperature alarms through AND logic to initiate rod-drop shutdown
– Cross-country pipeline pump stations – redundant relay pairs vote to trip motor starters on thrust-bearing failure
– Steel mill blast-furnace blowers – energise visual/audible stack lights for early warning of gear-tooth damage
– Wind-turbine test stands – switch brake calipers when tower vibration exceeds safe threshold
– Nuclear feed-water pumps – TMR relay set meets IEEE 338 requirements for safety-related actuation
Installation & Maintenance
The small card plugs onto the rear of the 3500/32 relay module; captive screws provide chassis earth bonding and vibration resistance.
Front LEDs on the main card give immediate status indication; relay cycle counters and contact wear estimators are accessible through System 1 or any Modbus client.
Replacement takes <1 min with no need to power-down the rack or re-configure monitor set-points.
Compatibility
Backward- and forward-compatible with every 3500/32 relay main card produced since 1998.
Supported by System 1 v6.5 onward and by third-party OPC UA, Modbus and DNP3 clients.
