Structural Features:
- Heavy-duty aluminum alloy housing with flame paths of precise dimensions
- Threaded conduit entries (3/4″ NPT) with sealing fittings
- Grounding lug with #10 AWG minimum wire connection
- Reinforced glass window for visual indication (on some variants)
- Heavy-duty mounting brackets for secure actuator attachment
Working Principle:
The P0916BX operates on the identical force-balance principle as the standard P0916AE. The key difference is the explosion-proof housing design: all electrical connections enter through flame-path conduit fittings that prevent flame transmission. The enclosure is engineered so that any internal explosion is contained and cooled before it can ignite the external atmosphere. The T4 temperature class ensures the maximum surface temperature remains below the auto-ignition temperature of the surrounding atmosphere.
Advantages:
- Full hazardous area certification for Class I, II, III locations
- No compromise on positioning accuracy compared to standard models
- FM and CSA certified for global acceptance
- Robust construction withstands harsh environments
- Grounding provisions meet NEC/CEC requirements
Applicable Industries:
- Oil Refineries
- Offshore Oil and Gas Platforms
- Chemical Plants (flammable service)
- Pharmaceutical (solvent-based processes)
- Paint and Coating Facilities
- Grain Handling (dust environments)
Installation Requirements:
- Must be installed by qualified personnel per NEC Article 501/505 or CEC Section 18
- Grounding conductor must be connected to the designated grounding lug using minimum #10 AWG copper wire
- Cable entries must use certified explosion-proof conduit fittings
- Maintain flame path integrity — do not drill or modify the housing
- Torque all conduit connections to manufacturer specifications
Usage Notes:
- Verify all conduit entries are properly sealed before energizing
- Perform megger testing on wiring before initial startup
- Inspect flame paths and gasket surfaces annually
- Replace all gaskets with OEM parts only to maintain certification
- Do not open the housing in a hazardous area
