Functional Features
Monochrome black and white display, transmissive optical mode, 4-bit parallel input, face-mount mechanical format, CCFL edge backlight located on top side, status suitable for fixed industrial screens.
Application Scenarios
Factory automation panels, test and measurement instruments, medical equipment displays, building control interfaces, retrofitting older 640 by 480 monochrome HMI systems.
Performance Parameters
Contrast 18:1, luminance 75 nits, data rate sufficient for 85 hertz refresh, power consumption about 0.45 watts for the LCD panel and about 2.1 watts for the CCFL backlight at 500 volts and 6 milliamps.
Material Composition
FSTN glass liquid crystal cell, polarizers, CCFL lamp with inverter interface, plastic or metal bezel-ready front stack, 15-pin connector assembly.
Structural Characteristics
Flat rectangular LCM with four face-mounting holes of 3.5 millimeters, top-edge CCFL backlight, 15-pin parallel signal connector on the rear, separate CCFL inverter connection.
Working Principle
The FSTN cell modulates transmitted light from the CCFL backlight. Row and column drivers receive 4-bit parallel RGB-or-monochrome data, charge the STN pixels and produce a 640 by 480 monochrome image. The backlight inverter supplies high-voltage AC to the CCFL for uniform illumination.
Installation Requirements
Mount using four front-face 3.5 millimeter holes, provide regulated 5.0 volts DC to the logic connector, connect the 15-pin 1.25 millimeter-pitch Molex signal header, install an external CCFL inverter rated 500 volts and at least 6 milliamps, maintain clearance for the 268 by 190 millimeter outline and verify touch or bezel cutout if used.
Usage Precautions
Operate only between 0 and 45 degrees Celsius, keep logic supply at 5.0 volts DC within tolerance, avoid direct sunlight because the panel is not sunlight readable, handle the CCFL inverter as high voltage, replace the backlight assembly after the 25,000-hour half-brightness point, and follow ESD procedures when connecting the 15-pin interface.
