Working Principle

The module connects the C300 controller to up to four H1 fieldbus segments. It manages communication scheduling, data exchange and device configuration on each fieldbus link according to the FOUNDATION Fieldbus protocol standard. Process data from field instruments is transmitted to the controller, while control outputs and configuration commands are sent to field devices in a scheduled, deterministic manner.

Installation Requirements

  • Plug into Series C IOTA terminal assembly
  • Connect fieldbus trunk cables to dedicated terminals on the IOTA
  • Install proper bus termination resistors at each end of every fieldbus segment
  • Ground cable shield at one end only to prevent ground loops
  • Route fieldbus cables separate from high-voltage power cables to avoid interference
  • Ensure total cable length per segment complies with 31.25 kbit/s H1 distance limits

Usage Precautions

  • Do not exceed the maximum number of devices per H1 segment
  • Verify proper bus termination before powering up the fieldbus network
