Working Principle

The module provides 24 V DC excitation power to each current loop, and the field transmitter modulates the loop current according to the measured process variable. The internal precision sampling resistor converts the current signal into a voltage signal, which is then amplified and digitized by the A/D converter. The microprocessor processes the digital data, applies scaling and linearization, and transmits the final engineering value to the host controller via the Genius bus. The module continuously monitors each channel for fault conditions and reports status information to the control system.
