  • Petrochemical plant burner management systems
  • Gas turbine combustion control systems
  • Incinerators and thermal oxidizer safety systems
  • Power plant boiler flame supervision

Working Principle

The module uses a UV-sensitive photodiode to detect ultraviolet radiation emitted by combustion flames. The sensor output signal is amplified and processed by internal electronic circuits to distinguish flame radiation from background light. The self-check circuit periodically tests the sensor and signal path to confirm detection capability. When a valid flame is detected, the output relay energizes; when flame loss is confirmed after the set delay, the relay de-energizes to trigger safety shutdown sequences.

Installation Requirements

  • Mount on a compatible 60-2726 wiring base in a location with appropriate line of sight to the flame
  • Ensure the sensor window is aligned with the flame zone without obstruction
  • Install in a position protected from direct high-temperature radiation and water splash
  • Use shielded cables for electrical connections
  • Connect safety circuits in accordance with local combustion safety regulations
  • Allow adequate clearance for maintenance and sensor cleaning

Usage Notes

  • Regularly clean the sensor window to remove dust and soot buildup that can reduce detection sensitivity
  • Perform periodic functional tests to verify flame loss response
  • Do not expose the module to temperatures beyond its rated range
  • Wiring and commissioning must be performed by qualified combustion safety personnel
  • Replace the module immediately if self-check faults are indicated
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance on energized systems
