Functional Features
Independent triple processor channels, continuous cross-checking, automatic fault isolation, online module replacement, extensive event logging, and high-speed deterministic scan for safety instrumented functions.
Working Principle
Each redundant processor reads input data from I/O modules, executes application logic under TriStation configuration, compares results with the other two processors, and uses 2-out-of-3 voting to drive outputs. Disagreement above defined threshold isolates the faulty channel and maintains safe operation.
Application Scenarios
Emergency shutdown systems, burner management, fire and gas safety systems, compressor anti-surge protection, pipeline control, and high-integrity process safety systems.
Structural Characteristics
Single-slot Tricon processor board, three parallel processing sections, separate communication transceivers, LED status indicators, battery-backed memory section, chassis-backplane connector with extraction levers.
Installation Requirements
Insert the module into the assigned processor slot of the Tricon chassis. Seat the rear connector fully and secure retention screws. Connect shielded Ethernet and serial cables to framed ground. Verify 24 V DC supply and chassis earth before power-up. Load application program with matching firmware version.
Usage Precautions
Replace processors only with identical firmware and hardware revision in active SIL systems. Monitor NVRAM battery health. Avoid static discharge during handling. Validate voting status after hot-swap. Keep chassis ventilation clear to maintain operating temperature.
