EPRO MMS6210

Product Series: EPRO MMS6000 Series — part of AMS 6500 / MMS3000 machinery protection system
Product Brief: Plug-in measurement module for continuous monitoring of relative shaft displacement (axial thrust position / differential expansion) using two independent eddy-current proximity probe inputs. Provides conditioned DC position signal, alarm/danger evaluation per channel, and 0/4–20 mA plus 0–10 V outputs for integration into DCS/PLC. Compliant with API 670.
Category:
Description
Working Principle: Each channel receives DC voltage from an eddy-current probe (typically PR 642x series with PR 935x preamplifier); the module demodulates and linearizes the gap voltage to represent shaft-to-probe distance; compares against configurable alarm and danger setpoints; outputs proportional analog signals and energizes relay/alarm flags on exceedance.
Sensor Input:2 × independent eddy-current probe inputs, galvanically isolated from supply; input impedance > 100 kΩ; input voltage range 0 … –22 V DC; frequency range 0 … 8 Hz / 10 Hz (–3 dB)
Sensor Supply (per channel):–26.7 V DC nominal, Imax = 20 mA (max 35 mA), open-circuit & short-circuit protected, isolated
Measurement Range: Freely configurable via software across full probe linear range
Analog Outputs:
  • 2 × 0/4–20 mA DC, isolated, short-circuit protected, load ≤ 500 Ω
  • 2 × 0–10 V DC, isolated, short-circuit protected, load ≥ 10 kΩ
  • SMB connectors on front for raw sensor signal monitoring (range –1 … –24 V, load > 100 kΩ, bandwidth 0–16 kHz ±20 %)
Alarm/Danger Setpoints: Adjustable 5 %–100 % of full scale; hysteresis configurable (typically 5 % FS); time delay selectable (1–6 s)
Alarm Outputs: Optocoupler (open-collector) per channel for “Channel OK / Fault”; relay outputs handled via rack
Binary Control Input: Common inhibit input (24 V logic) for channel disable or measurement range extension factor during run-up/shutdown
Keyphasor (Tacho) Input: 24 V logic, > 100 kΩ input impedance, min. pulse duration 10 µs
    Connector (Rear):48-pin DIN 41612(Type C)
Configuration Interface: RS-232 front port for PC-based configuration via EPRO software; also accessible via system bus
Front Panel Indicators: 2× green LEDs “Channel OK” (ch1/ch2); 2× red “Alert” + 2× red “Danger”
Power Supply: Via rack backplane (dual redundant inputs internally diode-ORed)
    Operating Temperature:0 °C to +65 °C (typical for MMS6000 rack environment)
Mechanical Format: Eurocard 6U format, plugs into MMS6000 rack (e.g., MMS6831 carrier)
Applicable Industries: Steam/gas turbine generators, large centrifugal compressors, turbo-expanders, power plant rotating equipment, petrochemical refining turbomachinery
Installation Requirements: Install only in designated slot of properly powered MMS6000 rack; ensure eddy-current probe and extension cable are correctly paired and calibrated (gap voltage preset before module installation); verify shield grounding at probe/preamp end only.
Usage Notes: Always perform probe gap calibration and record linearization constants before putting into service; “Channel OK” LED off indicates sensor open/short or signal out of valid range; alarm inhibit should be used during machine start-up to prevent nuisance trips; module is hot-swappable in live rack but configuration download may be required after insertion.
