Function Features
- High-gain oscillation drive circuit compensates signal attenuation over 10 m long probe extension cables
- Full-range built-in linearity correction algorithm for wide 16 mm air gap measurement
- Automatic open-circuit probe & short-circuit cable fault detection with fixed output voltage clamping for system alarm interlock
- Internal galvanic isolation between probe input and analog output eliminates multi-channel ground loop noise
- Thermal overload protection circuit triggers signal lockout when internal temperature exceeds 105°C
- Dual mounting compatibility: direct panel screw mounting or DIN rail adapter bracket mounting
Working Principle
Internal high-power high-frequency oscillator outputs stable alternating excitation signal to paired eddy current probe. The probe induces eddy currents on conductive rotating shaft surfaces; the reflected electromagnetic field intensity changes proportionally with shaft-probe clearance. The front-end demodulation circuit extracts effective displacement signal, applies factory calibrated linearity compensation for wide air-gap deviation, then converts processed signal into standardized -4 V ~ -20 V analog voltage output for downstream monitoring equipment real-time collection and trending.
Material & Structural Composition
- Outer Housing: Die-cast lightweight LMgSi aluminum alloy with integrated passive heat sink ribs
- Main PCB: Multi-layer FR4 high-temperature circuit board with low-temperature drift precision passive components
- Connector Assembly: Nickel-plated LEMO circular probe connector; tin-plated copper screw terminal blocks for power and signal output
- Internal Potting: High-temperature epoxy resin encapsulates oscillator core to resist vibration and dust ingress
Advantage Highlights
- Supports 16 mm maximum air gap, applicable for large slow-speed generator shafts with large assembly clearance
- High signal gain eliminates external signal amplifiers for long-distance probe wiring layouts
- ATEX hazardous area certification allows installation inside refinery, chemical plant and power generation classified control cabinets
- Wide operating temperature range adapts to uncooled local machinery side cabinets
- Built-in fault diagnosis reduces external signal detection circuit design cost
- Vibration-resistant encapsulated internal structure maintains stable measurement on skid-mounted turbomachinery
Applicable Industries
Large hydroelectric generators, heavy industrial steam turbines, mining large rotating compressors, petrochemical heavy-duty centrifugal equipment, steel mill large fan rotors
Installation Requirements
- Mounting Standard: M5 screw direct panel mounting or 35 mm EN60715 DIN rail with matching accessory bracket
- Probe Cable Specification: PTFE insulated double-shielded dedicated eddy current probe cable; single-point shielding grounding only at converter LEMO port
- Power Wiring: Twisted shielded pair cable for -24 V DC power supply, separate wiring routing away from high-current AC power lines
- Cabinet Layout Clearance: Minimum 12 mm vertical and horizontal gap between adjacent CON041 units for heat dissipation
Operation & Maintenance Notes
- Each CON041 unit is factory calibrated to match a single corresponding eddy current probe; cross matching different probe models causes irreversible linearity error
- Complete accuracy calibration via certified air gap test fixture must be executed every 12 months
- Probe cables must not run parallel within 10 cm of variable frequency drive power cables
- LEMO connector locking structure visual inspection required every 12 months to prevent loose contact from long-term vibration
- Ambient temperature over +95°C will activate thermal protection and cut off valid measurement output
