Emerson KJ4001X1-CG1

Product Name: Emerson KJ4001X1-CG1 DeltaV M-series I/O terminal block
Product Overview:
Emerson KJ4001X1-CG1 is a DeltaV M-series terminal block that provides field wiring termination for I/O cards. It creates the physical interface between instruments, sensors, actuators and the electronic I/O module mounted on the carrier. In several configurations it is applied for thermocouple/RTD temperature termination, while other M-series terminal variants serve different signal types; confirm the paired I/O card before use.

Functional Features:
Screw terminal field wiring, mechanical keying to prevent incorrect I/O card insertion, plug-on carrier design, hot I/O replacement in supported assemblies, and stable signal termination for analog, temperature or discrete loops according to the matched card.
Application Scenarios:
Field termination for DeltaV temperature, analog and compatible I/O in refineries, chemical plants, power stations, paper mills, food plants and other DCS installations requiring organized cabinet wiring.
Performance Parameters:
Contact resistance remains stable under vibration and thermal cycling when properly torqued. Signal accuracy is preserved by correct terminal type, shielding practice and compatibility with the mounted I/O electronics.
Material Composition:
Molded thermoplastic insulator body, tin-plated brass or copper alloy screw terminals, coded keying inserts, metal grounding clip and corrosion-resistant hardware suitable for G3 atmospheres.
Structural Characteristics:
Snap-on terminal block for DeltaV I/O carrier. Each channel pair provides signal and return termination. Keying markers restrict insertion of mismatched I/O cards. The block separates field wiring from the sensitive electronic module, allowing wiring checks without disturbing the card.
Working Principle:
Field instruments connect to screw terminals; the terminal block transfers signals through spring/blade contacts to the I/O card backplane. For temperature versions, cold-junction reference and isolation are handled by the paired electronics. Proper keying ensures each terminal point aligns with the correct I/O channel.
Installation Requirements:
Snap the terminal block onto the correct DeltaV carrier before installing the I/O card. Strip wires to the specified length, insert fully and torque screws to the rated value. Use 12 to 24 AWG conductors according to load and signal type. Connect cable shields to the assigned ground bus. Verify keying marks against the planned AI, AO, DI, DO or temperature card.
Usage Precautions:
Do not install a temperature terminal block with incompatible discrete or analog cards unless officially supported. Avoid exceeding 30 VDC and 2 A per channel. Re-tighten terminals during preventive maintenance to counteract thermal expansion. Keep terminal areas free from moisture, conductive dust and adhesive labels that may affect heat dissipation. Replace damaged blocks instead of reusing deformed terminals.
