The B&R 3IF152.60-2 REV.C0 is an 8-channel analog input module for the B&R X20 series I/O system. Working Principle

Each analog input channel passes through a precision shunt resistor (250 Ω for 4–20 mA) or a voltage divider (for 0–10 V). The conditioned signal is fed into a 24-bit sigma-delta ADC (ADS1256), which operates at 16-bit effective resolution. The digital value is transmitted across a 500 V DC galvanic isolation barrier to the X20 bus interface. The B&R CPU (X20 CP1541, CP1548, etc.) reads the values via the X20 bus and applies user-configured scaling and engineering unit conversion in the Automation Studio software.

Installation Requirements

  • Mount on DIN rail TS35 with at least 10 mm spacing between modules
  • Connect 24 V DC power to the X20 bus via the first module in the chain
  • Use shielded twisted-pair cables for analog signals — maximum run 50 m
  • Ground cable shields at the controller end only
  • Verify input signal range matches module configuration in Automation Studio before commissioning

Usage Precautions

  • Do not apply voltage > 12 V DC or current > 24 mA to any input — permanent damage to the ADC
  • Never disconnect sensors while the module is powered — inductive kickback can destroy the input stage
  • Differential mode uses 2 channels per measurement — plan channel allocation accordingly
  • Update Automation Studio to version 4.5.2 or later for REV.C0 compatibility
  • Calibrate annually using a precision signal source (Fluke 754 or equivalent)
