A Compact 200-series fieldbus mounted discrete output interface for the Foxboro I/A DCS. Drives solenoid valves, motor starters, alarm annunciators, and relay coils from externally supplied 15–60 V DC, 120 V AC/125 V DC, or 240 V AC field power. Executes onboard ladder logic with fail-safe fallback.

Working Principle:
Control processor writes coil image to FBM242 dual-port memory; onboard ASIC compares to ladder program and drives opto-isolated MOSFET/relay output stage fed by external field power. On comms loss, firmware forces pre-set safe state.
Applications:​ Oil & gas ESD, chemical plant valve actuation, power plant auxiliaries.
Installation & Wiring:
Snap onto Compact 200 backplane with two screws; terminate field power on P0916xx TA; never mix 24 V DC and 240 V AC groups on same TA; use ferrite on long inductive loads.
Precautions:
Inductive flyback diodes mandatory for DC solenoids; do not exceed 2 A aggregated per fused group; G3 coating damaged by solvent cleaning.
