Working Principle
The AMD Geode main processor executes cyclic PLC logic tasks and high-priority real-time motion control cycles in separated task partitions to eliminate timing interference. Digital onboard I/O and expanded Inline modules exchange discrete sensor/actuator signals over the internal PCI backplane bus. SERCOS III fiber bus transmits synchronized position, velocity and torque setpoints to connected Rexroth servo drives, collecting actual axis feedback positions for closed-loop motion regulation. Ethernet and PROFIBUS interfaces handle asynchronous non-real-time data communication with operator interfaces and plant supervisory systems, while the LCD front panel provides local human-machine access to system status without external software.

Applicable Industries
CNC machine tools, automated packaging machinery, plastic injection molding robots, textile spinning equipment, metal stamping automation, lithium battery assembly lines, printing press servo control systems
Installation Requirements
- Mounting standard: Horizontal 35 mm EN 60715 DIN rail installation inside sealed IP54+ industrial control cabinet
- Clearance specification: Minimum 30 mm vertical air gap above and below controller for passive heat dissipation
- Power wiring: 1.5 mm² minimum copper wire for 24 V DC power terminals; dedicated protective earth wire connected to chassis ground
- SERCOS III bus: Fiber-optic cable routed separately from high-current AC power cabling to avoid mechanical cable damage
- Ambient restriction: Cabinet air cooling required when continuous operating temperature exceeds 45°C
Operation & Maintenance Notes
- All motion control program modifications require full SERCOS bus axis re-synchronization before machine operation
- Clean LCD front panel only with lint-free dry cloth; no solvent-based cleaning agents permitted
- Verify non-volatile memory backup capacitor function every 24 months to prevent parameter loss during power failure
- Do not install unit adjacent to high-frequency variable frequency drives without EMI shielding separation
- Hot-plugging of Inline I/O extension modules is prohibited; full controller power shutdown required before module modification
