Mitsubishi A1S61PN

Product Name: Mitsubishi Electric A1S61PN — Positioning Module

Product Introduction:
The A1S61PN is a high-speed positioning module manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric for the A1S series (FX1S/FX1N/FX2N compatible) programmable logic controllers. It provides independent pulse output for servo motor and stepper motor control without loading the main CPU.

Functional Features:

  • Independent high-speed pulse generation offloaded from CPU
  • Supports absolute and relative positioning
  • Built-in jog operation capability
  • Zero return (origin return) function
  • Electronic gear ratio setting
  • Torque limit function (stall detection)
  • Dog-search (zero-point search) function

Performance Parameters:

  • Pulse Resolution: 1 pulse = 1 count (no built-in gear; gear set via CPU)
  • Response Time: Less than 0.1 ms from command to output
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to +55°C
  • Storage Temperature: -20°C to +70°C
  • Vibration Resistance: 9.8 m/s² (10–55 Hz)

Structural Features:

  • Mounts on DIN rail or directly on base unit
  • 40-pin connector compatible with A1S base
  • LED indicators: POWER, RUN, ERROR, AXIS

Working Principle:
The module receives positioning commands (number of pulses, speed, direction) from the CPU via the system bus. It generates high-speed pulse trains independently using an onboard pulse generator IC. The output is sent as differential line driver signals (PULS+, PULS−, SIGN+, SIGN−) to a servo amplifier or stepper driver. Position feedback (if used) is read back via the CPU, not the module itself.

Advantages:

  • Zero CPU load during positioning operations
  • High-speed 100 kHz pulse output
  • Simple parameter setting via GX Developer / GX Works2
  • Compact form factor

Applicable Industries:

  • CNC machine tools
  • Packaging machinery
  • Textile machinery
  • Printing equipment
  • Material handling / conveyor systems
  • Semiconductor equipment

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on DIN rail (35mm) or attach to A1S base unit
  • Ensure proper grounding of shield wire for pulse output cables
  • Use shielded twisted-pair cables for pulse signals (max 50m recommended)
  • Power supplied from base unit — no external power required

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not connect pulse output directly to motor — always use a servo amplifier or stepper driver
  • Keep pulse output cables separate from power lines (min 100mm spacing)
  • Set electronic gear ratio correctly to avoid over-travel
  • Verify stall detection settings before operation
