Lenze MDFKARS080-22

Product Name
MDFKA forced-ventilated asynchronous servo motor with resolver feedback.
Product Introduction
This motor is published in industrial spare-part catalogs under the MDFKA family. Public catalog data assigns MDFKARS080-22 to Lenze rather than Mitsubishi, so the nameplate must be checked before any cross-brand replacement. The motor is built for closed-loop servo axes that require continuous torque, defined speed regulation and forced-air cooling.

Functional Features
Square servo housing with external cooling ribs.
Forced-air cooling sustains rated torque in high-duty cycles.
Resolver feedback supports rugged operation in vibration and temperature extremes.
Optional electromagnetic brake packages are supplied on configured units, including 4656 EZ brake variants.
Application Scenarios
Packaging machines, converting lines, indexing tables, press feeds, textile machinery and general industrial servo axes that require 3 kW to 4 kW continuous output.
Performance Parameters
Continuous output remains stable at 390 V drive supply and 3455 r/min. Stall capability reaches 13.5 Nm for acceleration and holding duties. Forced ventilation maintains insulation class F temperature limits under sustained load.
Material Composition
Laminated steel rotor core, copper stator windings, aluminum or cast housing with cooling ribs, external plastic or metal fan, steel output shaft, resolver sensor assembly and sealed terminal box.
Structural Characteristics
Square housing, ribbed surface for heat dissipation, flange mounting face, separate forced-air fan assembly, resolver mounted on the rear shaft extension, optional brake cartridge between motor and fan end.
Working Principle
The servo drive generates regulated three-phase AC to the stator. The rotor follows the rotating magnetic field. The resolver measures shaft angle and speed and returns the signal to the drive. The drive adjusts current to hold position, speed or torque commands. The forced fan moves air across the ribs to remove heat generated in the stator and rotor.
Installation Requirements
Mount the motor on a flat flange surface with concentric shaft alignment. Use flexible couplings sized for 10.8 Nm rated torque and 13.5 Nm stall. Connect the forced-ventilation fan to its rated supply before motor start. Route power cables and resolver cables in separate cable trays or shielded conduits. Bond the motor frame to the machine protective earth.
Usage Precautions
Do not run the motor without the forced-ventilation fan. Verify brake coil voltage separately because brake and motor power supplies differ. Inspect fan filters and bearings on a fixed maintenance interval. Confirm the nameplate brand, voltage, resolver type and brake option before substituting this number for a Mitsubishi-labeled unit.
