SUPERIOR ELECTRIC M092-FF-206

Product Name
Superior Electric SLO-SYN M092-FF-206 synchronous/stepping motor.
Introduction
M092-FF-206 is a SLO-SYN stepping/synchronous motor from Superior Electric. It is intended for positioning drives, indexing tables, automation feeders and other applications requiring repeatable step motion with holding torque.
Category:
Description
Technical Specifications
Model M092-FF-206, SLO-SYN family. Motor type synchronous/stepping. Rated voltage 4.0 V. Rated current 4.0 A. Step count 200 steps per revolution, equal to 1.8° full-step angle. Holding torque 370 oz-in. Temperature rise 65°F above ambient at rated condition in cited distributor data. Insulation Class A. Connection configuration per SLO-SYN FF winding; verify 4-lead, 6-lead or 8-lead arrangement from the nameplate because controller compatibility depends on lead count. Frame family M092 corresponds to the 90 mm/NEMA 34-class SLO-SYN size in Superior Electric M-series documentation.
Functional Features
200-step full-step indexing, high holding torque for static load retention, synchronous operation with compatible SLO-SYN drive, reversible direction, zero-backlash coupling benefit when used with rigid mechanical linkage, and Class A insulation for general industrial duty.
Application Scenarios
Indexing tables, conveyor positioning, valve actuation, packaging machines, textile equipment, laboratory automation, robotics prototypes and replacement service for legacy Superior Electric SLO-SYN systems.
Performance Parameters
4.0 V, 4.0 A, 200 steps/rev, 370 oz-in holding torque, 65°F rise at rated condition, Class A insulation. Actual speed-torque curves depend on drive type, supply voltage, microstepping setting and inertia load.
Material Composition
Cast or laminated stator stack, copper windings with Class A insulation system, rotor with permanent-magnet or reluctance configuration according to SLO-SYN M092 variant, steel shaft, aluminum or cast end bells, and standard lead exit box or connector.
Structural Characteristics
M092 90 mm-class frame with square mounting flange, central output shaft, rear terminal or lead outlet, and holes compatible with SLO-SYN mounting kits. Size and mass should be confirmed from the M092 drawing because FF-206 lead configuration affects terminal box type.
Working Principle
The drive energizes stator phases in sequence. The rotor moves one step per phase commutation, producing discrete angular increments. In full-step mode the motor uses 200 increments per revolution. Holding current maintains position without movement. With a synchronous drive and AC/DC excitation profile, the motor can also run as a constant-speed synchronous device depending on controller.
Installation Requirements
Mount on the SLO-SYN M092 flange with matched bolts and coupling concentricity. Identify lead count and phase pairing before connecting the drive. Use a Superior Electric SS-series or compatible stepper drive rated for 4.0 V/4.0 A or appropriate chopped/constant-current supply. Provide cooling allowance for 65°F temperature rise at rated current. Ground the frame according to machine electrical design.
Usage Precautions
Do not exceed 4.0 A without verifying winding thermal rating; Class A insulation has lower temperature allowance than Class H or F motors. Avoid sustained operation inside the motor’s natural-resonance speed band without acceleration profiling. Confirm 200-step and lead configuration before replacing another M092 variant, because FF-206 electrical data may not match FF-402 or other suffix windings. Inspect leads and terminal box for insulation integrity before energizing.
