  • RADIUS / TACACS+ authentication
  • ACL-based access control (L2–L4)
  • Storm control (broadcast, multicast, unicast)
  • IGMP snooping (v1/v2/v3)
  • Link aggregation (LACP 802.3ad)
  • Spanning Tree: 802.1D, 802.1w (RSTP), 802.1s (MSTP)
  • Port mirroring (SPAN / RSPAN)
  • QoS: 8 priority queues, DSCP marking
  • DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection
  • SSH v2, SSL/TLS encrypted management

Performance Parameters:

  • Latency: < 2 μs (store-and-forward)
  • Buffer Size: 4 MB shared packet buffer
  • Uplink: 2 × 10G SFP+ ports (for stacking/uplink)

Structural Features:

  • 1U rack-mountable chassis
  • Front-facing SFP cages with LED port status indicators
  • Rear: 2 × 10G SFP+ stacking ports, console port (RJ-45), USB port
  • Dual PSU bays (left and right)
  • Fan tray (hot-swappable)

Working Principle:
The switch operates as a store-and-forward Layer 2 device. Incoming Ethernet frames are received on SFP ports, buffered, examined for MAC destination address, and forwarded out the appropriate egress port based on the MAC address table. VLAN tagging (802.1Q) allows logical segmentation. ACLs and QoS policies are applied in hardware (ASIC-based) for wire-speed performance. Management is handled via a dedicated management processor separate from the data plane.

Advantages:

  • All-fiber 24-port design — ideal for long-distance backbone
  • Enterprise-grade security (802.1X, DAI, DHCP snooping)
  • Stacking up to 8 units for high-density deployments
  • Dual redundant PSU for high availability
  • Hardware-based ACL and QoS — no performance degradation

Applicable Industries:

  • Enterprise campus networks
  • Data center top-of-rack (ToR)
  • Hospital networks
  • University networks
  • Government / defense facilities

Installation Requirements:

  • 1U rack space with adequate airflow (front-to-back)
  • Minimum 100mm clearance above and below for ventilation
  • Use Enterprise-grade SFP modules (Extreme-compatible)
  • Ground the chassis to building earth ground
  • Dual PSU connection to separate power circuits for redundancy

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 45°C ambient temperature
  • Use only Extreme Networks-certified SFP transceivers
  • Enable spanning tree to prevent loops in redundant topologies
  • Change default admin password before deployment
  • Update firmware via ExtremeXOS using TFTP/HTTP
